Bremser, Ray, Illustrated by Tom Clark, Al Duffy
Poems of Madness And Angel

Description:
Sudbury, Massachusetts: Water Row Press, 1986 Original Wraps. As New. First Edition Thus. Ray Bremser, the true Beat Outlaw poet, spent much of his time as a young man in prison, on the streets of New Jersey and in the poetry and jazz clubs in Greenwich Village in New York. Knicknamed "Blowing Mouth" by his contemporary Beat poets, Bremser's scat jazz Beat lines are legendary. Recognized by Bob Dylan as the "true Beat poet," Bremser was undoubtedly the best jazz poet to ever read in Greenwich Village. His first book, Poems of Madness, with an introduction by Allen Ginsberg, is a Beat classic and his second book, Angel, written during one night in solitary confinement in New Jersey State prison, helped change the course of Beat poetry for ever. Some say that Bremser influenced Jack Kerouac and his blues style of writing as evident in books like Mexico City Blues. This edition containing both of Ray's first two books and Allen Ginsberg's introduction was published in 1986 and is the 5 x 7 version (another 8-1/2 x 11 format version was also published by Water Row Press). With illustrations by Al Duffy and a cover drawing of Ray reading at Le Metro club in Greenwich Village by poet and artist, Tom Clark. New. Also make sure to check out other Ray Bremser books published by Water Row Press.
